MTF Technik Expands its Product Portfolio with new Segment Separating Drum
MTF Technik, a specialist in conveyor technology, separation systems, and automation solutions, will unveil an innovative addition to its separation equipment portfolio at FAKUMA 2026: a newly developed segment separating drum designed to deliver outstanding flexibility and customization.
At the heart of this new development is a robust stainless-steel drum cage that serves as the base for individually configurable separation segments. These segments are designed and manufactured using 3D printing technology, tailored to the specific requirements of each application.
Additive manufacturing also opens up new design possibilities. Complex geometries such as feed funnels, sleeve tubes, and undercuts can be produced cost-effectively and integrated directly into the separation gaps. This makes it possible to efficiently handle even demanding separation tasks, such as separating parts from sprues, i.e. applications that previously often required more complex automation systems.
Plastic separation inserts with rounded hole entrances ensure particularly gentle handling of the workpieces. They help minimize damage while also reducing noise generation during operation.
Another advantage of the separating drum's modular design is the straightforward implementation of multi-stage separation processes. By combining different segment types within a single drum cage, more than two different part fractions can be separated. At the same time, individual segments can be quickly replaced to accommodate changing requirements and a wide range of part types.
Additional efficiency is provided by the space-saving storage concept: spare and alternative segment plates can optionally be stored directly in the machine's base frame.
